A dancer at night and a warrior during the day. A major contributor to the Indian Rebellion of 1857.
Gauri Sawant
A transgender activist, Founder and Director of an NGO 'Sakhi Chaar Chowghi'.
Some vanished in history with their golden contributions.
Some fought, fled and disguised themselves.
While some have managed to push through and challenge the norms of Indian heteronormative society, they continue to face an ongoing struggle for full acceptance.
We believe society owes them a lot, but above all, it owes them an apology.
This is just a drop in the ocean. Immense bravery, contributions and sacrifices have been obliterated. This research is to be continued.
